Rafan House – Counselling for Bullying

What is bullying?

The dictionary definition of bullying is:

Using superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force them to do something

The subject of bullying is very emotive for everyone involved. We tend to think of bullying as something that happens in schools and playgrounds and confined to children. However, at Rafan House we know this is simply not the case. Bullying can happen at any age, in any place.

Bullying can take many forms; physical, verbal, emotional and mental. With the rise of social media, it has become easier for those who bully to hide behind a computer/phone screen to do their bullying and not face the consequences of their actions.

Being able to find that safe space where you can talk about what is happening and how it affects you is something that Rafan House understands completely. We know how vulnerable and scared those who are bullied feel. The anxiety and panic can be overwhelming and lead to depression and despair.

Of course, some bullies are also desperate for help and to come and talk.
