Rafan House is here to meet the needs of pupils and students struggling with emotional wellbeing when their specific needs go beyond a school’s own pastoral systems and provision.
Heads can recommend parents, individually or as a couple to our adult clinic.
We also offer a service where you can invite our team into your school should you need help dealing with emotionally exceptional circumstances such as: the death of a pupil, involvement in a court case, unexpected change of senior management or the need for cultural integration.
“Dr Loveridge ran a bereavement training session at The Gower School…it was the most useful training we have had.”

Do you have students who are suffering from stress, anxiety, or mental health issues needing help outside your school's normal pastoral services?
Our team includes specialists in child/adolescent psychotherapy. We also have access to multilingual therapists as we are aware that for anyone, but in particular young people, it can be helpful to have counselling in their first language. Our team is happy to come into schools to meet heads, teaching staff, or pastoral and welfare staff. We also offer inset days on child/adolescent mental health and pastoral care.
-
Do you have parents or staff who are particularly challenging or are grieving or unhappy or are facing serious illness?
The in-depth knowledge of our experienced educational consultants and therapists allow us to provide sensitive, external help without undermining the position of the school. Our aim is to alleviate grievances, reduce anxiety or conflict and to offer a space where discreet and compassionate conversations can take place. Occasionally, the demands of a very few parents and staff can lead to a lot of pressure on the Head and school. Our expert team can help to take some of the pressure off. We also provide expert mediation services to pre-empt or handle legal action should it become a necessary route to take.
-
Is the school community experiencing the tragic death of a pupil or colleague?
The impact of sudden death in the school community is enormous on all, both young and old. Our services include counselling those involved, in conjunction with working with the whole staff to help everyone manage this most difficult of events in the life of the school.
-
Are there other circumstances which have given rise to a crisis which is having an emotional impact on the school community?
Our in-house experts will assess your circumstances and provide confidential and professional advice as appropriate at a time when those in posts of senior responsibility are still reeling from the effects of the crisis itself.
This is what parents see when they enter our website.
